NVYC Online Brochure
Background:
The club is located at 100 Riverside Drive, which has been the major
center for Napa River recreation since 1954. The non-profit Napa
Valley Yacht Club was chartered in 1987 and purchased the facilities and
merged membership with the Napa Boat Club. The Club has a
long-term lease with the City of Napa.
Membership & Organization:
The Club has approximately 220 members which are 110
family memberships. As a 100% volunteer and non-profit club, the members
contribute hundreds of hours each year toward club and community
activities. It is not required to have a boat to join the Club. Boat
ownership includes about 30% cruising vessels, 50% a variety of smaller
craft, including row boats, electric boats and dinghies while the
remaining 20% do not own boats.
Activities:
The Club sponsors over 4,000 hours of community, club and visitor
recreations. Over 90% of the Club membership lives in Napa.
No tax dollars are spent for recreation activities at the Club.
Activities include:
During the year a fleet of 12 to 20 boats cruise to
ports within the Bay Area and Delta. Cruises are both weekend
events and two cruises are a week to nine days long.
Hosting Visitors: Over 500 visitors will experience Napa by
boating to the Napa Valley Yacht Club. There are 95 clubs from the
Bay Area and Delta who will visit with 12 to 24 boats. The
visiting boaters enjoy walking to downtown and winery excursions.
Safety: The Club sponsors Coast Guard safety inspections, which
are open to any interested boater. CPR classes are also held.
The Club was a major supporter of the no-wake ordinance passed by the
City Council.
Model Boats: Monthly, model sailboat regattas are open to any
interested boater.
